It all started back before I was born...
According to my loving, if sometimes highly frustrating parents, the story goes like this: Back in the day (21 years ago,) my father first volunteered as a teacher for a organization called Junior Achievement. He would visit public schools in the area and teach classes about business.
Now my mother apparently had already decided she wanted to homeschool her future children after learning about it on "Focus on the Family", before my father came to that conclusion. but she didn't mention it, I assume because she worried he would disagree.
Well wasn't my mother happily surprised, when one day my father stated "No child of mine is going to public school!" What brought him to that conclusion? He said it was because he had witnessed some very shocking behavior among the students that the teachers had little or no power to control and, frankly did not want his kids to be exposed to those situations.
My mother described homeschooling to him. Well, that's what caused my parents to decide to homeschool.
Next time we will fast forward 5 years to my arrival and the beginning of homeschooling.
Oh yeah, my father still volunteers with Junior Achievement in the local public schools every year. He enjoys teaching and really likes the students. The schools here have really come a long way since the late 1980s.

You are an eloquent writer and I am glad you Mom homeschools. She does a great job and your cooperation shows in the quality of you work!
I am homeschooled too and now homeschooling my kids. My mom was a single mother who homeschooled us as teenagers. I hated homeschooling. But then God changed my mind about it when I had my own children. God is changing hearts one family at a time. It's a blessing and a privelege to homeschool.
